The job
Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing (North America), the Plant Manager is responsible for manufacturing and warehouse activities in the Plattsburgh Facility with a focus on operational excellence (quality, delivery, cost, safety). The Plant Manager will develop policies and procedures designed to increase productivity, assure quality, and mitigate production problems. To this end, the Plant Manager will improve processes with the objective of reducing overall costs and enhancing customer satisfaction
Your duties
* Develop, coach, mentor and motivate employees.
* Foster team spirit and an atmosphere of participative management through effective communication.
* Manage Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Shipping and Receiving, and Logistics within the Facility while partnering with internal and external teams to ensure execution on production and delivery commitments.
* Coordinate manufacturing activities with Program Management, Customer Service, Engineering, Supply Chain and Quality departments to ensure that product requirements and quality standards are met.
* Review, ensure and continuously improve the functions within the Facility (including: quality of product, productivity, operational effectiveness, Customer On:Time delivery, reduced costs, etc.). Sustain operational excellence in all key areas of responsibility.
* Review established production schedules to ensure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.
* Drive the culture of quality with a commitment to regular reviews and continuous improvements.
* Maintain and support a superior safety and housekeeping program, including all timely communication initiatives.
* Identify relevant training needs and opportunities.
* Assist in training employees in problem:solving techniques and on:the:spot production troubleshooting.
* Participate as a member of the Management Team actively contributing to strategy, goals, and execution.
Your skill set
:
Bachelors degree in
Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering preferred.
:
Minimum 7 years experience in a similar position.
:
Must have a background in the motor manufacturing field.
:
Demonstrated leadership, teambuilding and advanced coaching skills.
:
Demonstrated ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills.
:
Industrial manufacturing experience, preferably in contract manufacturing (for OEM production)
:
Experience using complex ERP systems Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Power Point) to analyze data and trends.

Excellent understanding of quality systems, processes, and controls (Lean Six Sigma or other Quality Management training is an asset)

Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability.

Strong analytical and decision:making skills.

Ability to work with teams and lead decision:making processes in a team.
