Job Description:
The Operations Manager is responsible for supporting the growth of STC by unifying the objectives of Production, Production Engineering, Materials, Maintenance, and Facilities departments to achieve and maintain STC's mission of being a Materials Solution Company.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's Degree in business, manufacturing or engineering, with knowledge of operations, business, financial skills and demonstrated managerial skills.
2. Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing/maintenance/facilities/It/engineering experience.
3. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
4. Self motivated, driven for excellence, with the ability to exercise sound judgment, coupled with creativity to resolve problems.
5. Strong, clear, and effective written and verbal communications.
6. Microsoft office: Project, PowerPoint/Excel/Word/Outlook
7. Ability to work under pressure.
8. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is required.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and coordinate the strategic plan components with the senior staff and department's heads.
2. Direct and coordinate staffing, budgets, and timelines to meet metrics for growth of the business.
3. Develop and establish operating objectives, policies, and procedures to meet production goals, which will entail working closely with Production Manger on the following key items:
a) To reduce time to shipment by working with the BDM and EM to insure work is properly prepared for efficient manufacturing.
b) To insure schedules and routings are adhered to, rates are achieved or reengineered and losses are reviewed to address and build corrective actions.
c) Lean Manufacturing : push the complete growth of 5S, continue the implementation of the lean concept, setup reduction in time and cost, supporting run quantities and WIP reduction.
d) Continuous Improvement; put into place a program working with the EM and BDM to insure that STC maintains its competitive edge.
e) Productions goal: to achieve a G.P. of 45 : Time to market : 6 weeks : losses at 10.
4. Manage production processes to meet or exceed key performance indicators, ensuring systems reduce product variation, and meet customer specifications.
5. Direct a maintenance team, with a clear set of metrics as a goal, and responsibilities as followed:
a) Manage the cost of maintenance in terms of parts, labor, and downtime/loss of production
b) Prepare preventive cost vs. downtime vs. repair
c) Succession plan : rebuild the team
d) Plans, estimates, schedules, and coordinate maintenance and facilities work.
e) Assists in the development of production department repair budgets, capital equipment selection, and major modifications and upgrades to equipment.
