We are looking for bright, ambitious engineering graduates with internship, coop, or other post graduate work experience to join our team at the Mississquoi Mill in Sheldon Springs, VT. The ability to lead others and support employee success are critical as the Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of paper mill, shipping and stock preparation operations for a designated shift, including safety, quality, production, costs, environmental control and employee relations. Areas of responsibility include the paper mill with 2 paper machines, Shipping, and Stock Preparation. The Shift Supervisor also has mill-wide responsibilities for prioritizing shift maintenance and responding to emergencies. Essential Job Functions: Leads safety efforts on shift to prevent injuries, eliminate hazards, improve housekeeping and comply with all applicable regulations and mill policies Implements improvement initiatives, corrects unsafe conditions and responds to safety concerns to ensure a safe and healthy working environment Supervises approximately 25 operators on shift and manages employee performance and promotes teamwork by providing appropriate coaching and training to ensure reliable performance and compliance with environmental, safety, production and quality requirements Maintains quality and environmental parameters within prescribed limits, basing decisions on operating conditions and trends Ensures that required testing occurs on schedule and in an appropriate manner Completes daily report incorporating all operating and equipment changes that will be useful to other supervisors in these departments Handle daily timekeeping duties and attendance reports Insure daily production and maintenance targets are met. Other Job Functions: Excellent problem solving ability Ability to communicate effectively Strong organizational and leadership skills Computer experience Microsoft Office Coaching and training of employees On shift resource for troubleshooting problems in the process as well as maintenance issues First point of contact for all hourly employee concerns. Act as liaison with union/union employees and plant management. Maintains and consistently applies a thorough working knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement Utilizes the JDE system for work order and safety maintenance work order entry. Preferred Qualifications: Engineering or Paper Science degree Minimum of HS graduate; BS degree preferred Must be able to meet the physical requirements: frequent standing, walking, occasional heights; outdoor and indoor conditions as well as occasional high temp exposure due to machinery conditions Must be able to work a rotating shift position.
