Based in Plattsburgh, New York, you will source and procure materials, parts and supplies. You will also ensure parts availability while maximizing quality and minimizing overall cost / inventory levels. You will direct and lead a team of people in high level procurement activities for systems.
In your role you will:
- Place purchase orders on suppliers in accordance with departmental procedures;
- Review major purchase orders prior to approval by Management;
- Negotiate and administer terms and conditions with suppliers;
- Provide expertise in matters of currency exchange, escalation formula and contract language;
- Monitor shortage reports;
- Visit supplier plants to analyze productive capability as required;
- Coordinate first article inspections;
- Perform product research and locate and select new sources of supply;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
You will have the opportunity to participate in the negotiation of major vendor contracts.
Qualifications
As our ideal candidate:
- You hold a Bachelor''s degree in supply chain, engineering or business administration coupled with advanced experience and qualified training;
- You possess a minimum of five (5) years of experience in relevant position with increasing responsibility;
- You have experience working in a manufacturing setting, heavy manufacturing will be considered a strong asset;
- You have excellent negotiating skills and have a strong sense for customer service;
- You have a good proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SAP experience will be considered as an asset;
- Your English communication skills (written and spoken) are excellent.
Additional Information: The incumbent of this position must be able to work various shifts and overtime as required.
